2018 will bring major changes to our high performance Junior and Youth structure. There is a requirement by New Zealand football, that Clubs apply to be licensed. We have done this and will hear if we are successful on 1st December. Clubs who are successful will be eligible to enter a 13th and 14th Grade team into a new Youth Premier League. One of the requirements to be a licensed Club is that our Youth Premier teams we have coaches qualified to at least Senior Level 2/Youth Level 3 and players train 3 times a week. These teams in 13th and 14th grade will be our CTFC Academy teams. There is infomation on Mainland Footballs website or click here
We will continue to run our CTFC Academy Development program in a similar way to this years Academy. This will provide great development opportunities for all players and they will be coached by highly qualified coaches on great pitches. The CTFC Academy Development program will be open to players from 7th to 17th Grade.
As most of you will be aware, Mainland football are no longer sending rep teams to the South Island Tournaments. This is being passed to the Clubs and will be a great opportunity to provide tournament experiences for more of our players. We are waiting for confirmation from Mainland Football about national age group tournaments, but as we understand it this will continue for 13-16th grade, where elite players will be selected to participate as part of Mainland Football sides.
As we receive further information over the coming weeks we will pass this on to our club members and we will be holding an information evening in early December so we can answer any specific questions you may have about our structure moving forward.
